We dose based on EC (Electrical Conductivity) rather than fixed proportions because EC provides a direct, measurable indication of the total concentration of dissolved salts (nutrients) in the irrigation water. Also inline measuring of nutrient concentration is not yet widely commercially viable. Unlike proportional dosing, which assumes consistent water quality and nutrient strength, EC reflects the actual nutrient strength that plants experience. This helps ensure that plants receive the right amount of nutrients—not too much, which can cause salt stress, and not too little, which can lead to deficiencies. EC-based dosing also allows for real-time adjustments based on crop stage, water source variability, and environmental conditions, making it a more precise and reliable method for managing plant nutrition.
