You can connect the WSC11 directly to the Priva Blue ID controller via an RS485 connection. The WSC11 is supplied with a 15 metre cable. If the distance is greater than this, you must extend the cable and take measures to ensure a stable connection.
Making a connection with a cable that is less than 15 meters long
For distances up to 15 metres, you can connect the WSC11 directly to the Priva Blue ID controller and to a 24 VDC power supply. The WSC11 comes with either a 5 conductor or 7 conductor cable. The two drawings show the wiring color of each of the cables.

- Connect the supplied sensor cable (AWG26) with the screw connector to the WSC11.
- Calculate whether the 24 VDC power supply for Compass field equipment has sufficient capacity to also power the WSC11. Add an extra power supply if the capacity is insufficient.
- Connect the wires for the power supply to the 24 VDC power supply for Compass field equipment.
- Connect the data wires to the RS485 port of the C4.
Making a connection with a cable that is more than 15 meters long
For distances greater than 15 metres, you must use an additional cable. You must also follow the rules for biasing and terminating the RS485 network.

Requirements
• A water tight junction box with an IP code of at least IP65
• A terminating resistor of 120 Ω / ½ W
• An extension cable with the following requirements:
• 0.6 mm (AWG22)
• twisted pair
• shielded
• A device for termination and biasing at the Priva recommends that a standard module should be used for this. One example is the LT-B4 from Loytec.
- Connect the supplied sensor cable (AWG26) with the screw connector to the WSC11.
- In a junction box, connect the wires of the sensor cable to the extension cable.
- In the junction box, install a terminating resistor of 120 Ω / ½ W between the data+ and data - wires (This is the brown/green pair on the 5 conductor cable and the green/yellow pair on the 7 conductor cable .
- Connect the biasing and bus termination module in accordance with the diagram above.
