How to set up your system:
Make sure that your Priva package includes the API for the information you want to use.
The Historical Data API provides historical data that can be used to analyze trends. The Notification API provides alarm notifications, which can be used to detect and analyze problems.
Make sure that you have Administrator rights.
Get your credentials.
In Priva Access Control, go to the Applications tab. Add an application for the APIs that you want to use and set the access level. Keep in mind that for the Notification API, you need to set the access on the organization level, not the building level. The license per building will determine if you have access for an individual building once the API access has been set on organization level. Save the Application ID & Secret.
Connect your AI.
In your AI's connector settings (in Claude, this is under "Customize"; in Mistral this is under "Context"), add a custom connector using the MCP link (https://mcp.priva.com/building). Then enter your Application ID and Secret. Click on "Connect" to authenticate.
Add the Priva Analyst skill (download below). This step is optional but highly recommended.
Under "Skills" in your AI's settings, upload the skill file. It helps your AI get more out of the connector and guides you through common use cases.
- Ask your AI something simple to check that it's working: for example, "Does my building have any open alarms?"
