How to tag data points in TC Engineer
1. Within a project, select a module to modify in the Configure tab.
For example, an outside temperature and two room temperatures for comfort insights:
These data points need to be tagged in order for Analytics to recognize them for use in Smart insights.
2. In the Graphic tab, go to PDS control function tags at the bottom of the elements list.
3. Select the type of data point tag that you wish to use (start with outside temperature, because it is necessary for all insights). Drag the tag onto the graphic window, next to the data point you are tagging.
4. Go to the Link tab, drag the newly created tag element from the list on the left onto the board next to the data point you are tagging. Connect the data point with the tag at the bottom green arrows.
5. Repeat this process for other data points, using the tags representative room temperature, periodic electricity consumption and periodic gas consumption.
6. Once all of the tags are applied to the project and linked to the correct data points, recommission the project and reupload it to apply the changes.
Note: when applying tags for periodic gas or electricity consumption, if there is a choice, choose the 15 minute consumption data points in order to ensure a good quantity of values to visualize in a chart.
7. If you then go to Smart Insights in the Analytics app in PDS, you will see a message that there are points not yet added to long-term history. Click on the button to add the new tagged data points to the long-term history. Your new insights will then be visible in Smart Insights (note that it may take some time for the storage to be populated with data so the insights might not be visible immediately).
