What are fine-grained permissions?
Fine-grained permissions are access or use permissions granted to anything smaller than a whole site. While it is also possible to set permissions at the site level, fine-grained permissions allow these permissions to be applied to a smaller section of the site. These permissions could involve viewing or editing charts or controlling the climate settings. Depending on the configuration of the project in TC Engineer, these permissions could be applied to a floor, a building section, a unit within a shared building, or even a specific controller.
An example of fine-grained permissions usage is giving permission to separate tenants in a shared building to control or view information about only the part of the building they occupy.
Different levels of access
Full access to a building
See and interact with all building levels (floors, zones, rooms) and edit all data points and charts
Access to a floor
The floor and all associated rooms/zones are fully interactive. Other building sections are restricted.
Access to a single room
The full building structure is visible, but only the authorized room displays data and interactivity. Other rooms show a restricted view ("Access Denied")
No access to any area
The full site tree is shown, but all sections display "Access Denied" and contain no data or editing options.
