The Priva Weather Data Service works exclusively with the PDS Plus package .
What is the Weather Data Service?
The Weather Data Service provides direct input of the (project) site’s local weather - both current conditions and forecast - into your building management system (BMS). This information allows you to program instructions for your BMS in TC Engineer, using the weather forecast information to adjust the heating, cooling and ventilation of your building to optimize energy use and the comfort of those in the building.
Examples of benefits that the Weather Data Service enables:
- Preheating or pre-cooling based on expected outside temperature: If a cold night is forecasted, the BMS can activate the heating earlier to ensure comfort upon arrival. On a hot day, the system can cool preventively to avoid peak loads.
- Concrete core activation is an energy-efficient method for heating and cooling buildings. However, its response time is slow. That’s why weather forecasts for the coming days can play a crucial role in optimizing this system’s performance.
- Buffers charging based on local energy generation (such as solar panels).
